Take subtle colours of the lute or the
rich abundant sound of the theorba and mix liberally with the energetic
sound of baroque guitar, add soprano voice with a full palette of
shades: from warm, soft cantilena - to free and bright coloratura and
thus we have great company to the Musical tour throught Baroque Europe.
We start from Italy - cradle of Baroque, call in on Spain - homeland of
guitar, sophisticated France - country of ballet and courtly airs. Our
next stop is England - land of Masques and of songs with enormous
beauty. We'll stroll across to Germany, country of Reformation and
Bach's source. Allow the great cosmopolitan composers of the past to
lift us beyond all places to the workshops of the Muse where they freely
mixed their ideas - can you find something more Italian then Nauwach
songs or something warmer than Handel's Spanish cantata?
We invite you to climb aboard the magnificent charabang which is our
music and wander Europe together. |

Katarzyna Wiwer-Monita
studied singing at the Krakow Academy of Music, where she graduated in
1994. Katarzyna has also taken numerous courses in interpretation, both
in Poland and abroad, including masterclasses led by Emma Kirkby and
Evelyn Tubb. She has a particular fondness for early music, but readily
performs later music suited to her voice.
Since 1994, she has worked with the Krakow-based ensemble, Capella
Cracoviensis and since 1996, with the early music ensemble, Harmonia
Sacra, as well as many other ensembles that have invited her
collaboration. Last year she participated to the Klang der Kulturen-
Kultur des Klanges (Sound of cultures- culture of sound) project by
Vienna based ensemble Ars Antiqua Austria which toured Europe with great
critical acclaim.
Her rich and wide repertoire includes many choice compositions from
Monteverdi, Zieleński, Buxtehude, English baroque songs, numerous Bach
cantatas, many oratorio parts (Bach's Passions, Mass in b-minor,
Magnificat, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation or Mozart's Requiem) as
far as symphonic compositions like Mahler's IV Symphony or Gorecki III.
Katarzyna has taken part in many festivals as a soloist. These have
included well-established Krakow-based festivals - such as Music in Old
Krakow, The Festival of Organ Music, The Early Music Festival and Bach
Days in Krakow - and festivals abroad, including the Dresdner Festspiele
and The Dartington Festival of Music. She has performed three times at
Dartington in costumed and staged performances of early baroque pieces
directed by Anthony Rooley.
Katarzyna's other activities include chamber music and solo recitals
with lute, harpsichord or piano accompaniment.
